May moves on workers’ rights to seek legacy beyond Brexit

The government will on Monday unveil measures to improve workers’ rights and bolster the power of agencies to enforce labour market standards as it tries to update the law to address the changing world of work and provide the prime minister with a domestic legacy. The announcement follows last year’s “ Taylor Review” into the modern workplace, which called for regulations to address the rise of the so-called gig economy, where platforms like Deliveroo and Uber connect customers and workers directly.
