Supreme Court to hear appeal over plumber's employment status

The Supreme Court will hear the appeal in Pimlico Plumbers Ltd v Smith on 20 February 2018. The Court of Appeal held that plumber Gary Smith was a worker, not a contractor, because he was required to use the Pimlico's van for assignments and was contractually obliged to do a minimum number of hours a week. Judgment is expected in several weeks' time.
