Taylor review: exploitation of self-employed

Mon, 20 Mar 2017

Matthew Taylor's review of employment law, due to report in June 2017, is expected to conclude that a growing number of companies are abusing the law by using self-employed workers to avoid paying employment benefits. The review is understood to have evidence of firms asking jobseekers to incorporate themselves as sole traders. It is further believed the Government will crackdown on this abuse, accepting Taylor's recommendations on what constitutes self-employment and a ban on employers imposing sanctions on workers.
