Employment: Frequently Asked Questions

Mon, 27 Jun 2016

This briefing looks at some common employment problems experienced by constituents, including national minimum wage, contracts of employment, unfair dismissal and redundancy. SPICe would welcome feedback from MSPs and their staff on the contents of this briefing, particularly on whether there are other employment problems which should be covered. Many employment rights come from European Union (EU) legislation. At the time of writing, there is no information available on the likely impact of the vote to leave the EU in this area. At present, the law as described in this briefing remains in place.
