Trade unions win battle on public sector worker subscriptions

The UK government has decided not to proceed with provisions of the Trade Union Bill which would prevent public sector workers paying their trade union subscriptions direct from their salary. The system is set to remain in place but that unions will be required to pay the £6 million cost of administering what is known as check-off.
